I have an exciting giveaway for anyone that has a little hero in their life whether it be a girl or a boy. I have actually waited several weeks to do this giveaway because I wanted to make sure everyone would get in on this and not miss out because of summer business.

When I first started talking to Everybody's Hero she ask me what color cape I wanted. I told her I was pretty easy going and I have girls and a boy so it really didn't matter. Can you tell me about the charity you support? The Children's Tumor Foundation is a foundation dedicated to finding a cure for Neurofibromatosis (NF) and to improving the the health and well being of individuals and families affected by NF. Since my youngest son has been diagnosed with NF1, my family is directly impacted by this foundation.

How did you start making capes? When my husband and I had our last child, we decided I should stop teaching for a few years and stay home with the children. I wanted to still bring in a little bit of extra income and give back to the charity that could potentially provide help for our child so I decided to try my hand at sewing. My heart goes out to every child going through any type of medical treatment and how much strength they have from it all. They are all little heroes in my mind. Thus, was born the name "Everybody's Hero™."

How can they be customized? Each customer choosing their colors, emblems and initials. If there is a color or emblem that is not listed but someone is interested in, most of the time I can work with a customer to make what they are envisioning ;)

When did you open your Etsy shop? I started my Etsy shop late January 2010.

Can you tell me a little about yourself? I am a semi-stay home mom,(I do some substitute teaching during the school year),of two amazing girls ages 6 and 10. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 15 years. We live in a small town in the central valley of California. I have a huge heart for the Lord, my family, my dear friends, and creative people.

How did you start making these pillows? When I resigned from my career in Human Resources, I was determined to make the most of my time at home. I knew I wanted to explore the creative nature within. At the time, my youngest daughter was in preschool a few days a week and would occasionally stay for afternoon nap time. She had plenty of blankets at home, but no smaller pillows. I found a few cute ones in the stores, but they were not washable (ewww). I came across a pattern for a smaller pillowcase and the ideas started flowing. I made a few for my girls, and their friends, experimenting with fabric combinations as I went. The kids loved them and I began thinking that other kids may love them too. So I began selling them at local gift shows and eventually at a local boutique. Before I knew it, I had scrap fabric coming out of my ears. I decided to use the fabric to add appliques to onesies and t-shirts. Everything I create in my shop, stems from these plush pillows.

Do you take custom orders? I absolutely love custom orders. Custom orders really give me the ability to explore new designs, and different fabrics. These orders challenge me to think outside my box.

OK, I'm just going to tell you now that Domestically Green has me hooked and these reusable swiffer pads!!! Sampler Village (since I know you read this), you need to get ahold of this shop because these things are amazing! Did I tell you I'm hooked?

Domestically Green sent me 3 of these to try out and before I could even get them out of the package my kids were begging to clean because they have monkey's on them. Now if you are a mom you know that anything that gets your kids excited to clean is something you want to have.

OK, I'm about to be totally embarrassed but I want to show you how much dog hair this thing picked up off of a floor that looked clean.

Can you believe that? Let me just say that I will not be buying the ones from the store anymore and these are even fun and colorful. For $10 you get 3 of these and when they are dirty you just throw them in the wash and reuse them.

When did you open your Etsy shop? I opened my shop in August 2009

Can you tell me a little about yourself? I am a stay at home mom to 3 little kids. Before I had kids I was a CPA and after my 2nd was born, my husband and I decided it was best for our family for me to stay home and raise our kids. That was when I started to look for ways to save money and also ways for our family to be more green. It was amazing how different I looked at everything, including our planet, after our kids were born. Part of saving money and going green included switching to reusable handmade products - wool dryer balls, swiffer pads, reusable snack bags, etc. We've also gone mostly paper towelless here as well and I'm hoping to start selling some reusable paper towels in my store at some point too.

Can you tell my readers about your swiffer pads? My reusable swiffer pads are designed to be used with a swiffer duster mop (or pledge grab-it mop). They are made of 2 layers - one is a cotton flannel in a cool design and the other side is a coordinating soft fleece. Both of these fabrics work wonders at sweeping up loose crumbs, dust, hair, etc. Think of babies crawling around on the floor in fleece or flannel pants....their knees are usually covered so quickly with what they "sweep" up as they are crawling around. These are great because you no longer have to buy boxes of disposable pads that just get one use and end up in the trash. I've had a set of reusable swiffer pads that I made about 2 years ago that are still going strong! And to give you an idea of how often they are used - I'm a swiffer freak because I've had crawling babies for almost 4 years straight now and my entire house is hardwood floors!

We are hooked on dryer balls in our home, can you explain them to my readers? My wool dryer balls are made from 100% wool yarn. They contain no chemicals or hazardous materials. They are about the size of a tennis ball and are felted a few times during the process. You can use as little as 2 dryer balls in your dryer at a time, but I have found them to much more effective when you have 6-8 balls in your dryer. As the balls are circulated in the dryer, they separate your clothes to allow the warm air from the dryer get to all articles of clothing. The more dryer balls that you add to your dryer, the faster your clothes will dry. In addition, the friction created by the felted wool being rubbed against your clothing helps to cut down on static cling and soften your clothes. The more dryer balls that you add to your dryer, the softer your clothes get.

I love the wool dryer balls because there are no chemicals in them (like dryer sheets - that can irritate sensitive skin or leave a film of build-up on your lint screen) and they work great with cloth diapers as well!

I am married to my favorite guy in the entire world and get to hang out with our two sweet boys while creating vintage inspired silk flowers and jewelry. My hubby is a youth pastor and worship leader at our church. Together we hope to live a life that is passionate, purposeful, and full of adventure. I have always wanted to use my creativity for something big, so in this season of our lives opening an Etsy shop was just what we needed to get us one step closer to our dream while allowing me to pursue the many ideas swimming around in my head that take form in flower, stone, or wire. We are raising money for international adoption, and are in the process of figuring out which country we will go through to find our next child! My husband and I met in Hawaii while doing international missions work and love experiencing other cultures, so we can’t wait to not only adopt our precious child but incorporate their culture into our lives, weaving our stories together forever. There are so many children without families world wide and we are moved to not only grow our family through adoption but do what we can for as many of those precious kids as possible. When did you open your Etsy shop? I opened it in April.

Can you tell me a little about yourself? I am 26 and I came from Riga Latvia. I took all my artistic training in Eastern Europe in 2 different art schools. I have been in Canada for 5 years , I have wonderful husband and a lovely son . I love to laugh and have fun. Art is my passion and usually I use bright colours because they bring out good emotions in me and hopefully in others too.

What size of clothing do you carry? Most of my business is custom order so I will have any size the customer needs. It is mostly kids but I have done grown ups too and in future I would like to do shirts for pregnant ladies.

What makes you smile? My wonderful family, running in the rain, crunchy leaves under my feet, chocolate and funny clouds. Also watching an idea going from my mind to reality and the happy faces of my customers.
Like I told you I love to have fun so I try to smile everywhere and to everybody , like somebody said : “Smile and the world smiles with you.”

When did you open your Etsy shop? We signed up with Etsy in January of 2010, and then started selling our fondant toppers in March.

Can you tell my readers a little about you and your shop? We are a husband and wife team. Wife: I’m Alison and I started cake decorating when I was in high school, I have never taken a class, not even the Wilton classes, I have just been blessed with a talent of creating tasty things out of sugar. Husband: I’m Michael, currently I am a medical student studying to be a Physical Therapist. Honestly, my wife roped me into this but I am having a lot of fun, she is the sugar creative one and I’m the one who deals with everything else. We are both new to Etsy and love it; our shop currently sells Handmade Custom Fondant Cupcake and Cake toppers.

How far in advance should someone order the toppers? We prefer at least two weeks notice for all orders. The Toppers that you or any customer will order are not just sitting around a shelf somewhere, after an order has been placed and paid for we start work right away creating your toppers. Once they are created they need a few days to dry and then a few days shipping, and so we prefer two weeks.

How long do the toppers last and can you freeze them? Our fondant toppers will last up to 12 months if they are stored properly. To store them properly they need to be kept in an airtight container out of direct sunlight. There is no need for the fridge or freezer, this will discolor the fondant. Also, in each order there is a reminder about storage, instructions and a small bag of royal icing just in case shipping is not kind to your toppers

Do you take custom orders? We do take custom orders! Just convo us.

OK, the shirt my daughter is wearing below has to be one of the cutest little girls shirts I have ever seen! Do you see that it's a hedgehog? Oh my is my little one in love with this shirt and so am I.

When did you open your Etsy shop? I opened my Etsy shop this year at the beginning of March.

How long have you been making children's clothing? I have always loved crafty type things, but didn't venture into making any type of clothing until after my daughter was born (she is 17 months old now). I started designing and putting appliques on shirts for her to wear, people started asking if I could make things for them, and because so many people were interested, I decided to start my Etsy shop.

What sizes of clothing do you make? I can design and applique any size shirt, but have the most fun doing things for babies and kids. I have done several shirts for adults, and can always do so again if someone wants something, but my main focus is on children's items.

Do you take custom orders? Absolutely!! I don't have anything listed "in stock" on my shop at all. If customers want a design I have listed, then I allow them to choose their fabric and sometimes the shirt color. I also get a lot of requests for designs that I haven't done yet. When that happens, I design what they are looking for, and then name the design after the child it is being purchased for. That is why my shirt designs on my Etsy shop are listed as things like "The Aubrey" or "The Mason".

Today I want to introduce you to a shop called The Purple Tangerine. I actually heard of playsilks for the first time a few months ago and I was so excited when The Purple Tangerine sent us one to try.

The colors of the playsilks are so beautiful! I let my 6 year old play with it first because she is so creative and I knew she would fall in love with it. Within minutes it was a skirt, a hat, fairy wings, she became a dancer and she pretended to be a baby holding a blankie. Can you tell us a little about yourself? Kate and I (stefanie) are two moms between the two of us we have 6 kids ranging from 11 months - 11 years. We live in a small town and love it!

Can you explain to my readers about the different ways children can use playsilks? Kids uses them as baby blankets, super hero capes, shooting stars and I have even seen it used as a pony mane! The possibilities are as limitless as a child's imagination! And YES your child WILL play with them! I have found they are one of the toys that stand the test of time as well as my child's short attention span, when it comes to the latest and greatest toy. The best part is they don't take batteries!

I have saved the shop Solstice Designs until last for a specific reason. Solstice Design should win an award for being a giving shop. When I first found this shop I was totally blown away by the amount of Pay It Forward items this shop carries. Can you tell me how you decided to put Pay-It- Forward item in your shop and how it works? A friend of ours saw the pay it forward concept on Etsy. We fell in love with it and incorporated it into our site. We offer an entire collection of value priced pieces to encourage random acts of kindness. How did you start making jewelry? My best friend/business partner and I were on vacation and wandered in to a bead store. Neither of us made jewelry or even knew how at the time. When did you open your Etsy shop? I opened my Etsy shop in February of this year and it has kept me increasingly busy!

Can you tell me about the PIF item/items in your shop? I love the idea of doing something nice for others to repay the good that has been done for you, and I started my business with Pay It Forward plates. The idea is that you give this plate filled with goodies to a friend. They keep the plate, fill it up with their own goodies, and pass it on to another friend! The circle keeps going, the plate keeps traveling, and friends keep Paying It Forward! It’s one little way to make the world a nicer place. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "In the order of nature we cannot render benefits to those from whom we receive them, or only seldom. What size plates do you offer in your shop? I offer dinner size plates and salad size plates and platters; the exact size varies, depending on the availability. I recently added desert size plates as well, which are perfect to give as a gift with a cupcake or slice of cake! These are great gifts for friends, neighbors, or to take to the office for co-workers to celebrate fun days!

What are some custom things you can do with your plates? I do lots and lots of custom plates and mugs! I have done many personalized “Happy Birthday” plates, wedding plates, and anniversary plates. Kids have sent me pieces of paper with ideas for plates they have designed that I have made for them to give to their parents for birthdays, mother’s day, etc. I have also done gift plates with poems or sayings, and images that they have requested. I receive many orders for recovery anniversary coffee mugs for people celebrating years of sobriety. This is a great personalized option to celebrate that achievement! Can you tell me about the PIF items in your shop? Most of the PIF items in my shop are hair accessories. They range from crochet headbands, hard headbands, etc to hair bows, flower clips and more. I always include an extra in each package I send out. Each and every order is special to me, ESPECIALLY the PIF items.

Can you explain the starfish/bug necklaces? The pendants I use for my necklaces have real bugs, starfish, and/or scorpions in them. They are eye catchers and everyone loves them! I wear my starfish bracelet daily, and my girls wear their scorpion/bug ones too! They're great for boys, which is why I started carrying them in my shop. :)

Do you take custom orders? Custom orders are my favorite! :) I love making each order unique, so I love custom orders!

T & T Crafts sells a bar of Orange/Ginger Milk soap for 20 cents as a PIF item. They are basically giving this soap away for free and only charging for shipping as a Pay-It-Forward item.

What really caught my eye in this shop is the felted soap. I have never heard of felted soap. I just learned about felted dryer balls (which I'm crazy about by the way) and now T & T Crafts sent me a felted soap to try and it's so cool, I really like it. I am really starting to like this felted stuff.

When did you open your Etsy shop? I opened my Etsy shop at the end of December in 2009.

Can you tell me about the PIF item in your shop? PIF item- Orange-Ginger Milk soap: Cold process soap made with fresh orange peel, fresh ginger, and cow's milk along with lye and different oils. Cold process soap isn't cooked and takes longer to cure.

Can you tell us about your felted and your wine soaps? My felted soaps are felted using dyed sheep's wool. Some are from homemade soap, a couple are from Ivory soap from the store. They are differentiated between in the item descriptions.

My wine soap is made from homemade Cabernet/Merlot wine from a friend of ours that makes wine. Most wine soaps only include a wine fragrance added later in the saponification process, mine includes actual wine and isn't diluted with water. All my soaps are dye free and no fragrances are added. They get the smells and colors from what is in them (i.e. wine, beer, coffee, etc)

I feature one or two PIF items per month. Right now my featured PIF items are a tutu and boutique beanie. My usual charity of choice is St. Jude's Research Hospital for Children but most recently donated to the American Cancer Society.

What size do your beanies and tutus come in? My boutique beanies come in newborn/infant and big girl size- big girl fits about age 1-5years.

Custom Tutus come in newborn to size 6years. You pick up to 3 different colors and tell me her age for size or send me exact waist measurements for more of a custom fit.

What makes me smile? My daughters- they are my world & I'm so privileged & blessed to be their mom! Dancing around the house with my kids is one of my favorite things to do & we do it almost everyday.

Several weeks ago I learned from a reader on my blog that some Etsy shops have Pay-It-Forward items that they sell at discounted prices so that you can do something nice for someone. I loved this idea and started looking around Etsy and found several shops that do this.

This week I want to encourage all my readers to do at least 1 Random Act Of Kindness for someone. Here are some simple ideas but you can Goggle search it if you need more ideas.

1. Go to a laundry mat and give someone a handful of quarters.

2. Bake Cookies and take them to your local police or fire station and thank them for what they do.

3. Do something special for a military family.

4. Pay for the person behind you in the drive-thru

5. How about doing something special for your boss.

6. Go visit an elderly person

7. Support someone fundraising for an adoption.

When did you open your Etsy shop? I started my shop in March, 2010 after much demand to offer my designs to a wider market.

Can you tell me a little about yourself? My Facebook profile says: "mother, wife, friend, daughter, teacher, jeweler, writer, scrapbooker, jokester, crafter, reader, thinker, worrier, learner, risktaker, viewer, shopper, clown, philosopher, arguer, peacemaker, entertainer, tweeter... and weirdo" and that's a pretty accurate description of me!
I've been a daughter for 34 years, a wife for 10 years, a Mom for 6 years, a teacher for 11 years, and a jeweler for 8 years. I started making jewelry just as a craft, but that quickly grew into a large customer base. OK, I know this isn't an Etsy shop but the description of my blog says "anything my little heart desires" and I am totally in love with the shop Trading Phrases so I contacted them to see if they would let me feature their shop on my blog.

Trading Phrases wrote right back excited to be featured and they were kind enough to send me the wall decal pictured below. Doesn't it look nice? That is my wall and I put it up myself! OK, I didn't completely put it up myself but almost.

Let me tell you what happened. The night before I laid it out on the table with books on top of it to flatten it all out. I woke up the next morning so excited to put this on my wall. I found some time when my two 4 year olds were playing nicely in the room next to me. It was going up so easy and I was getting so excited to see the backing coming off of it and then I heard some screaming. One of my 4 year olds had hit the other 4 year old with something and well, I had to leave the decal half way hung and make a trip to the ER for some glue on the cut.

I was so worried (my son was fine) that the decal wouldn't work right when I got home. My husband actually finished it before I got home but 2 hours after I walked away from it and he said the backing came off really easy and it stuck perfect. I was so excited to see the finished product when I walked in the front door.

I don't recommend doing this but this tells you how good of a product it is that even after the 2 hours of walking away from it that it still did wonderfully.

Now let's back up just a little. When I received my package from Trading Phrases it also included 2 small decals. They send you one promotional decal and 1 to practice on before you put your big one up.

The package comes with very easy to read instructions and really, I think about anyone could put these up. Did I mention that they are so much cheaper than buying art pieces for your wall? They even have directions for easy removal if you get tired of them or decide your ready for another decal.

Trading Phrases has many, many choices of styles and designs that I think anyone could find something in this shop.

Oh.....do I have a fun shop to share with you! Big Me Little World is a shop full of whimsical, colorful, simple, fun and just plain wonderful things. Big Me Little World sent me this SWEET Preserves Glass Jar (picture does it no justice). Inside is a little turtle and a sign hanging from the tiniest little hanger that says "hang in there life is hard sometimes but....your shell is harder." Big Me Little World has a jar for about everything you could think of.

The jar they sent me is actually going to go to a friend of mine that found out that she has to start chemo tomorrow.

These jars would make perfect gift for secret pals, someone that's sick, someone that just needs a smile, a surprise for your child to put in their room, your co-worker, a grandparent and I could just go on and on.

When did you open your Etsy shop? I opened my shops in Feb of 2008.

Tell me about your amazing shop and how it got started ?

I'm a local artist in Southeast Michigan

is my little shop on etsy of
"one of a kind" handmade gifts....

after painting children's wall murals
for almost 20 years.... I look forward to now
move in a different creative direction ............

the name:

big me little world

came about one day.... as I was sitting at my art desk by the window
that looks out to a creek behind our home....
I saw this little mouse who kept running out from a small hole in the ground.....
he collected bits of seed that had fallen from our bird feeder
...he would quickly grab a piece and run back into his place of shelter...
with such determination.. and focus He continued for quite some time...
and at no cost...would loose his concentration...

The next thing I knew.........
he had a name, personality
and I began to draw him on many of my items....

already having the name:

big me little world

I just put the two together and developed the character....

he loves
riding on curtis's shell across the creek
to the library..... (oh... curtis is his turtle friend) from the woods...

and no matter if he is fetching seed or sampling swiss
.........stays focused........determined
........and happy ..............

he travels quite a bit now...ever since he has obtained a passport
from the post office....thanks again to curtis...

and he would have to say.... loves paris most of all......
BUT....He
will never forget his friends from the woods....and will cherish
all of the lessons they
have taught him along the way....

What seems to be the most popular item in your shop? People seem to really like the "sweet preserve jars"
one of my customers said "it reminds me of my childhood...frankly of a gentler time"

...and thats precisely what I try to capture in them
a little bit of imagination... taking you to a different place for awhile....

Do you take custom orders? I do take custom orders and love getting them... most special orders are shipped out about a week from the date purchased sometimes sooner...

What makes you smile? Whenever I receive a convo. from one of my customers ...saying that they LOVED what they purchased.. I think that its important to LOVE what we pick out... either for us or what we choose for that special someone... I truly cherish my customers and even if I receive constructive criticism... it should make me come out stronger and better on my end
and improve my craft that much more...

I am soooooo excited to share the shop Sox That Rock with you!!! I actually met the owner of this shop when she started following my family blog. We are both adoptive moms and so we had something in common. I had been wanting to contact Sox That Rock to see if she wanted to be featured for a long time but since she followed my family blog for some reason I was nervous about contacting her.

The week before Easter she contacted me wanting to do a giveaway and I was so excited I can't even tell you. This is honestly one of my favorite Etsy shops! The owner of this shop wanted my daughter to have a pair of these socks (like the zebra print ones pictured below) in her Easter basket so she sent them out right away along with a jellybean clippie.

I am actually going to be placing an order with her very, very soon. My other daughter has been begging and begging for some of these socks so I'm going to order her some for her birthday.

If you are one of the many people who fill shoeboxes at Christmas time these would also be wonderful for the boxes. I plan on putting a pair of these in each girls box I fill this year. She even has some that say "Jesus Love Me" on them.

Lynda's 13 year old daughter also has an Etsy shop. Her daughter works very hard to try to earn her own money and she sells hair clippies, hats, along with some other things. When did you open your Etsy shop? October 31, 2009

Can you tell us a little about yourself? Mom to FIVE great kids...our youngest was adopted from Guatemala in 2008! I have been making crocheted beaded socks since my oldest daughter(now 15) was little! Family and friends started asking me to make some for them and eventually I made them to sell at craft shows and online. I began making ruffle socks about 3 years ago. Since I opened my Etsy shop, I now sell crocheted and knitted baby booties(my mom actually makes these for my shop!), beanie hats, headbands, hair bows and hair clips along with cute applique tee shirts, to go along with the socks!

Do you take custom orders? I LOVE custom orders and do quite a few of them! If you email me a photo of an outfit or dress, I can make some fun matching socks and hairbows to go with it. Need a pair of socks to match your favorite sports team? No problem! Do you want socks for a special occasion such as a wedding, baptism, birthday party or other event, just let me know as I have done lots of these! I just completed custom socks for an entire dance class of 16 little dancers!

What sizes do your socks come in? I have made socks for brand new preemie babies all the way up to women's shoe size 11!

The shop I am featuring today is a shop named Dote. Dote caught my eye because of the map stationary pictured below.

Dote was happy to send me the stationary to review and these are so much fun. I am one of those people that won't even put plain, boring stamps on an envelope so I think these are just great. The ones she sent me are made from New York City subway maps.

When did you open your Etsy shop? I opened my shop on Etsy in the spring of 2007.

What is your favorite item in your shop to make? I really enjoy making everything in my shop, otherwise I wouldn't do it. But if I had to pick a favorite, I'd probably pick the recycled map stationery. There is something really comforting to me about having my hands in constant motion with a tangible end product.

Do you take custom orders? I do take custom orders.
