When I was searching Etsy one day I found the coolest thing to put in Easter baskets! If your anything like me you just dread all the sweets that come with holidays. I don't mind my kids having goodies but too much of it makes for hyper kids that don't get along.

I found a shop on Etsy called Wild and Wonderful Pets and they make the cutest 3-D bird feeders. We love our little feathered friends at our house and my kids would go crazy if they got something like this in their Easter basket. Instead of a huge chocolate bunny that they don't need they could get a very cool 3-D bunny that they could take outside, hang for the birds and then see what birds come to eat on it.

If your a mom or dad reading this and have never bought a bird feeder before I have a secret to tell you about feeders. Did you know kids will get very, very quiet to watch the birds eating so they don't scare them away? As a mom of two four year olds and a 6 year old, quiet time is a precious time.

When did you open your Etsy shop? I opened the Etsy store Feb. 6, 2010 I have sold the same items on Ebay since 2005, and at local craft shows.
How did you get started making 3-D bird feeders? I received a small bird seed wreath once as a gift and it fell off the tree early on, because it was just tied at the top. I noticed the birds typically will start pecking at the top and work their way down. I thought it would be fun to learn to make them, but I would do a better job and make sure it lasted till the end. I just started trying different shapes and molds, depending on the gift giving occasion.

Do you take custom orders? I will do custom orders, and can blend different types of seed, include greeting cards, etc.

Can you tell me what the feeders are made of? The feeders are made of different types of bird seed (usually millet, sunflower seed, safflower seed) plus plain food gelatin and filtered water. I add organic nuts and berries depending upon the seed blend I am using. I have had some customers in the past who have hesitated purchasing my bird seed shapes because the "squirrels will eat them up before the birds will get to it". Then a customer on ebay emailed me once asking me to put cayenne pepper into his order and upon research, found that was a way to help keep the squirrels off.
