Giveaway from Big Me Little World! (this giveaway is now closed)

Oh.....do I have a fun shop to share with you! Big Me Little World is a shop full of whimsical, colorful, simple, fun and just plain wonderful things. Big Me Little World sent me this SWEET Preserves Glass Jar (picture does it no justice). Inside is a little turtle and a sign hanging from the tiniest little hanger that says "hang in there life is hard sometimes but....your shell is harder." Big Me Little World has a jar for about everything you could think of.

The jar they sent me is actually going to go to a friend of mine that found out that she has to start chemo tomorrow.

These jars would make perfect gift for secret pals, someone that's sick, someone that just needs a smile, a surprise for your child to put in their room, your co-worker, a grandparent and I could just go on and on.

When did you open your Etsy shop? I opened my shops in Feb of 2008.

Tell me about your amazing shop and how it got started ?

I'm a local artist in Southeast Michigan
Big Me Little World

is my little shop on etsy of
"one of a kind" handmade gifts....

after painting children's wall murals
for almost 20 years.... I look forward to now
move in a different creative direction ............

the name:

big me little world

came about one day.... as I was sitting at my art desk by the window
that looks out to a creek behind our home....
I saw this little mouse who kept running out from a small hole in the ground.....
he collected bits of seed that had fallen from our bird feeder
...he would quickly grab a piece and run back into his place of shelter...
with such determination.. and focus He continued for quite some time...
and at no cost...would loose his concentration...

The next thing I knew.........
he had a name, personality
and I began to draw him on many of my items....

already having the name:

big me little world

I just put the two together and developed the character....

max basset

he loves
riding on curtis's shell across the creek
to the library..... (oh... curtis is his turtle friend) from the woods...

and no matter if he is fetching seed or sampling swiss
.........stays focused........determined
........and happy ..............

he travels quite a bit now...ever since he has obtained a passport
from the post office....thanks again to curtis...

and he would have to say.... loves paris most of all......
BUT....He
will never forget his friends from the woods....and will cherish
all of the lessons they
have taught him along the way....

God has blessed max basset...

and made his life "BIGGER"
then he could ever had imagined
it would be........................as max always says...

What seems to be the most popular item in your shop? People seem to really like the "sweet preserve jars"
one of my customers said "it reminds me of my childhood...frankly of a gentler time"

...and thats precisely what I try to capture in them
a little bit of imagination... taking you to a different place for awhile....

Do you take custom orders? I do take custom orders and love getting them... most special orders are shipped out about a week from the date purchased sometimes sooner...

What makes you smile? Whenever I receive a convo. from one of my customers ...saying that they LOVED what they purchased.. I think that its important to LOVE what we pick out... either for us or what we choose for that special someone... I truly cherish my customers and even if I receive constructive criticism... it should make me come out stronger and better on my end
and improve my craft that much more...

and that should still make me smile right ??? :0)
